LOVE, GRIEF, REMEMBRANCE
SHORT FILM: LUKA (2023)
"LUKA" is a poignant short film that delves into the profound emotion of grief, remembrance, and the enduring bond between a man and his cherished canine companion. I draw from my own experience of living overseas and facing the passage of time, which inevitably leads to loss. The film serves as an intimate reflection on grief, while simultaneously celebrating the significance of memories and the profound love that transcends time and distance. By inviting the audience to connect with the bonds they hold dear, "LUKA" aims to inspire a moment of introspection in our fast-paced world. Amidst life's busyness, we are encouraged to cherish and honour our closest connections, recognising the importance of taking time to reflect and remember. Through this artistic expression, "LUKA" resonates with a broad audience, tugging at the heartstrings and reminding us of the love that lies deep within each of us.

SHORT FILM: Waking Waves (2024)
A Dream that never comes true...

Turn on sound for the full experience

“Waking Waves” is a physiological drama story about a 21-year-old guy who finds himself lost in a vivid dream. He is swimming freely in the ocean, only to be jolted awake by the harsh reality of his unfinished essay due in ten minutes. Panic sets in as he desperately attempts to complete his work, but his frustration and a yearning for freedom drive him to abandon his task. Determined to escape the pressure of studying and the confines of his responsibilities, he decides to pack his bag and head to the beach, seeking solace in the waves and sun. After a long trip and a day filled with carefree joy, he jumps into the ocean’s waves and suddenly wakes up once more, back in his room, staring at the still incomplete essay. As the cycle repeats, he is left to ponder the unsettling question: is his pursuit of happiness nothing more than a fleeting fantasy?

Doomsday (2025)
VFX produced using NUKEX

I came up with an action sequence that involves a transition between chaotic dream and reality. My technical workflow began with filming the car interior and background road plate separately. This choice provided a clean background for 3D tracking, avoiding distractions from the car and ensuring accurate camera solves. The car interior was rotoscoped in multiple sections to isolate the windows, while the background plate was stabilised, cleaned, and prepped for tracking. To remove tracking errors, I masked out moving clouds before solving the camera in NUKE.
I sourced a 3D car model from ProductionCrate, importing and lighting it in Blender before exporting as an FBX for NUKE integration. Using TransformGeo, I animated the model to follow a physically plausible path, complemented by 2D explosion and debris elements projected onto cards. Additional effects, such as helicopter debris, smoke trails, and hand-painted dust on windows, enhanced realism. Lighting adjustments were key: both the background and interior plates were selectively brightened and colour-shifted to match explosion timing. Finally, camera shake expressions and colour grading completed the cinematic feel, and the sequence was edited together with sound in Premiere Pro.
Creatively, the project explored the tension between fantasy and reality. Inspired by high-energy action sequences from Fast & Furious and the immersive chaos of video game cinematics, my goal was to immerse the viewer in a dramatic first-person car chase — only to reveal it was a hyper-realistic game. This playful twist subverts audience expectations, making the reveal both humorous and relatable.
